Lewa Conservancy is a private conservancy with diverse mix of habitats from grassland plains, forest, wetlands and hills. Formerly a cattle ranch, Lewa is now a shining example of exceptional wildlife conservancy whose efforts have brought back healthy populations of the endangered black rhino and Grevy’s zebras.

While on a safari in Lewa Wildlife Conservancy you have a chance to spot the critically endangered black rhino, the endangered Grevy’s zebras, as well as elephants, lions, giraffes, wild dogs and other iconic wildlife species in Kenya.

Day 5-7: Discover the Mara Conservancies

Spend these days exploring The Mara Conservancies surrounding the Masai Mara National Reserve. They offer visitors the ultimate safari, the lowest tourist densities, incredible day and night game viewing, walking safaris and authentic cultural interactions. But above all, these conservancies are managed according to a model that protects the delicate eco-system and benefits the landowners themselves – the Maasai people.

The Mara Conservancies are best destination for tourists seeking a more exclusive safari experience. The conservancies bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve offer exceptional game viewing and a far fewer visitors.

While staying in the conservancies, it is still possible to go into the Maasai Mara. A particular draw is during the Great Migration when the park witnesses the dramatic river crossings where herds of wildebeest crash through the Mara River. However, it is not possible for the vehicles that flocks to the national reserve to enter the conservancies ensuring numbers remain low.

During your safari in Mara Conservancies, lookout for a variety of wildlife include Big 5 – lion, leopards, cape buffaloes, elephants and rhinos, cheetah, hippo, zebras that is Grevy’s zebras among others.

Alternatively, you will do optional Hot air balloon safari and Maasai Village Cultural Visit.
