Detailed Itinerary of 5 Days Uganda Primates Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park, Tea Plantation Visit

Upon your meeting our Uganda safari guide at your hotel of stay in Kampala/Entebbe or airport upon arrival, he will brief you about the safari and thereafter proceed on a transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. The journey is 5-6 hours with a lunch stop en-route.

Enjoy a Tea Plantation visit, exploring how it is grown and harvested. Proceed to the lodge thereafter, check in and relax enjoying the scenic views around. Dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Accommodation: Chimpundu Lodge for Lower-Luxury, Chimpanzee Forest Lodge for Mid-range, Kibale Forest Lodge for Budget.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking, Bigodi Wetland

After an early breakfast at the lodge, drive to Kanyanchu visitor centre for a debrief about the chimpanzee tracking activity. You will be placed in a group of 8 persons and allocated rangers and guides.

Walk into the forest in search of the chimpanzees; while at it look out for other primates like vervet monkeys, birds, butterflies, and plant life. When you encounter the chimpanzees, spend up to 1 hour with them and observe how they live and are very playfully. Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours or more depending on the location of the chimpanzee group allocated.

Trek back to meet your guide, return to the lodge and enjoy a hot lunch. Relax and later on head out for a late afternoon Bigodi Wetland visit enjoying the scenic views and bird species there. Return to the lodge, relax as you wait for dinner and an overnight stay as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Via Ishasha Sector

Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast and thereafter drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for the tree climbing lions. Chance to spot these lions and other animals. Enjoy a lunch stop at a select restaurant as you drive to Bwindi Park Ugandaa.

Once in Bwindi National Park, check in at the lodge, relax as you wait for dinner and an overnight stay.

Accommodation: Mahogany Springs Lodge for Luxury, Buhoma Haven Lodge for Mid-range, Buhoma Community Rest Camp for Budget.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda

After breakfast at your choice accommodation in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will proceed for your gorilla trekking activity in the rain forest which is home to the gorillas. You will spend about 1 hour with the gorillas after trekking through the forest in search of the gorillas. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi takes anything from 1 hour to 6 hours or more depending on the location of the mountain gorillas and speed of the travelers. You will also enjoy taking photos of the gorillas as well as videos.

Meet your guide and drive back to the lodge. Enjoy lunch and rest for the later part of the day. Should you choose to, enjoy an optional Batwa cultural tour at the Batwa local community showcasing culture and way of life of the Batwa, the indigenous settlers of the park. You could also meet the school children and interact with them, if up for it. Dinner and overnight stay as above.
