When To Go
Kenya’s diverse climate and geographic features offer unique experiences throughout the year. Here is a breakdown of the different factors influencing when to go on a Kenya Safari.
The dry season is considered the best time to visit Kenya for wildlife viewing and other safari experiences. The weather is generally dry, with sunny days and cooler temperatures, making it comfortable for game drives and outdoor activities. In this time of the year, wildlife congregates around water sources, making it easier to spot animals in national parks and game reserve. July to October is the peak season for the Great Migration in Masai Mara National Reserve, where millions of wildebeests and thousands of gazelles and zebras move in search of water and fresh grazing grounds, offering incredible wildlife spectacles.
This period is another good time for wildlife viewing in Kenya, similar to the main dry season. It is also the calving season for wildebeests in the Masai Mara, providing excellent opportunities to see baby animals.
Consisting of two main periods that is short rains from November to December, and the long rains from March to May. During the wet season, the landscape is lush and green, providing a beautiful backdrop for photography. During this time, birdwatching is fantastic with many migratory bird species present. Generally, Kenya Safari prices are lower during the wet season, and there are fewer tourists, providing a more budget-friendly and less crowded experience.
